(iRealtyWire.Org) – The second day of the chef de mission started off with site visits to the Games Village, Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium and the Rugby 7s venue at Delhi University.

The good news for the organizing committee is that the Games Village got the thumbs-up from the delegates along with other venues apart from Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. Sources in OC admitted that pace of work at the stadium did come up for discussion, especially as the new schedule for it will ensure that it would be ready not before July. Said a senior OC official, ‘‘The work done there (JN Stadium) though was appreciated. It’s an international-level stadium and the delegates were informed that work had only been delayed in certain sections because of the opening and closing day ceremonies.’’

The Village, in fact, according to OC officials, was the most impressive visit for the delegates. The Village is expected to be handed over at the end of this month. The delegates there were shown a set of furnished apartments with facilities that would be provided to visiting athletes and officials during the Games. Said Chef de Mission Neville Fenton from Antigua, ‘‘I am very impressed with the facilities of these venues. Here at the Games Village, the arrangements are fine.’’

The JN Stadium however, seemed to be lagging behind the schedule. While OC officials claimed that the feedback was good, there were moments of worry, said sources. Added Lalit Bhanot, spokesperson for the OC, ‘‘The venues are all going to be handed over in August but work on most is in advanced stages. There is no need to worry.’’ That didn’t seem to be the refrain amongst the delegates though. Said Abdul Halil, Chef de Mission from Malaysia, ‘‘I am confident that Delhi will organize excellent Commonwealth Games keeping up with the deadline.’’ That’s a wish that the OC is certainly counting on.
