KOH ARCHITECTURE AND NEW YORK CITY HOUSING DEVELOPMENT TO CREATE SERIES OF MEN’S SHELTERS IN BOROUGHS OF BROOKLYN AND BRONX TO AID COMMUNITY

NEW YORK, NY, MARCH 3, 2010 -- KOH ARCHITECTURE, headed by Principal Architect Dinah
Klamert and Managing Director Daniel Montana, are working in conjunction with ownership to develop
a series of Emergency Housing Facilities to benefit the communities of Brooklyn and the Bronx.
“We are so pleased to be a part of the team working with the developer to construct these buildings and
provide both temporary and permanent housing for people in crisis situations,” commented KOH
ARCHITECTURE Principal Architect Dinah Klamert.”

Daniel Montana, who is spearheading the projects from the design through NYC approvals and finally
through Construction comments that, “Due to today’s economic climate, this is an ever-present and
growing need within the city’s infrastructure, and we hope to assist in filling this need.”

The first project, located in the University Heights section of the Bronx (near Fordham University), was
recently completed and underwent a complete renovation of the existing Building for use as a men’s
shelter. This three-story structure is expected to house 50 residents in a dormitory style environment
with shared bathrooms.

The next facility, located in the Longwood area of Bronx, is a facility for Section 8 families in distress
and crisis situations. This 25,000 s.f. former vacant warehouse is currently in construction and is
undergoing extensive restoration and upgrades in both the interior and exterior elements of the building
and will provide housing for 36 families. To complete the transformation, the developer intends to
provide amenities such as multipurpose / meeting rooms in the cellar and is currently in the planning
stages for a rooftop playground /recreational area for the residents as well.

The third site, currently in the planning stage, is located within the Bedford Stuyvesant area of Brooklyn.
The existing 5 story freestanding structure was originally used as a children’s school. The conversion of
this now vacant property to a men’s shelter will subdivide the interior and will feature dormitory style
facilities providing temporary housing for 80-120 residents. Amenities will also include multipurpose
rooms for meetings as well as recreational spaces within the building.

The last building, also located within the same area in Brooklyn, will be row house/brownstone
temporary housing for men, adjacent to and supplementing an existing men’s shelter. The building will
feature 8 – 12 per floor, with a total capacity of 36-40 people.

To summarize the common theme for these projects, K.O.H. is converting, vacant/unused properties,
serving no practical purpose and an eyesore to the communities, into buildings providing a useful and
necessary service while revitalizing these properties and remaining sensitive to the character of the
neighborhoods within which they are located.
